Health & Safety Advisor
Full-time/Permanent – £32,000 – £35,000 basic salary plus great benefits!

Our client is an established manufacturing company in the Thirsk area. They are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join their busy multi-site operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives across a large manufacturing facility in the Thirsk area.

Health & Safety Advisor – Key Responsibilities:
• Promote a positive proactive culture towards health and safety.
• Ensure operations are informed of actual or potential breaches of legislation regarding Health Safety and the Environment.
• Provide input to help drive a process of continuous improvement in respect of HSE.
• Assist the operations teams to ensure all accidents and incidents are correctly reported and investigated to identify both immediate and root causes.
• Ensure the dissemination of learning opportunities and corrective actions arising out of accident and incident investigation processes.
• Compile timely and accurate data / KPI’s and produce reports in line with the needs of the reporting requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and audits on a frequency agreed, agree corrective actions as required and track actions through to completion with the contract operational management teams.
• Provide support to internal and external HSE audit plans to assist in certification in respect of safety, quality and environment (ISO 9001 / 14001 and 45001)
• Develop and deliver internal HSE training in support to the operations teams.
• Providing an advisory service on EHS matters.
• Ensure a wide range of risk assessments are undertaken and developed to eliminate or reduce risks to the health and safety of employees or other persons. Tasks may include: providing advice and guidance, and ensure that risk assessments (general and specific, such as COSHH, MSDS, new and expectant mothers, first aid, manual handling, DSE, etc.) are completed for all activities with significant risks.
• Arranging and/or undertaking regular inspections, audits, health surveillance, surveys and tests to assess the standards achieved using, where appropriate, external assistance.
• Liaising with managers and technical personnel to ensure that health and safety aspects of all new plant, equipment and processes are fully assessed.
• Assistance in the claim management process, with the legal and HR team.

Health & Safety Advisor – Skills, Experience & Attributes:
• Strong Health & Safety skills/experience, ideally with NEBOSH certification (or equivalent)
• Experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment would be desirable.
• Ability to work autonomously within pre-determined guidelines
• Reliable, conscientious & co-operative
• Attention to detail
• Works within team to achieve positive outcomes to issues
• Ability to understand when issues need escalating to higher management structures

The Health & Safety Advisor position is offering £32,000 – £35,000 basic salary plus great benefits for the successful candidate.
