Interview Tips
Candidates may believe interviews to be difficult and stressful, but they do not have to be, as long as individuals are prepared!
-
Company
Research the company via website, gain an understanding of their specialism, target market and what makes them successful.
This will show your level of interest in the company and desire to join the business. -
Time & Date
Know exactly what time and date you are expected to be at interview and ensure that you are 15 minutes early, to allow for delays.
-
Directions
Know where your interview is to be held. Have directions / map prepared, so no hidden surprises! If at all possible, do a ‘practice run’ the day before, to ensure you know where the interview is and how much travel time is needed.
-
Interview
Most interviews are competency-based. Research examples of these questions and prepare answers, to show your confidence and ability to handle difficult questions. Ensure you answer questions directly, and, if necessary, provide further information or examples. By practising your answers they will hopefully seem fluent and relevant.
-
Closing
Always prepare questions for your interviewer to show your level of interest. If all else fails, ask whether the interviewer has any reservations relating to your suitability for the position. This will allow you the opportunity to overcome a client’s objections during the interview. Minimising any uncertainty due to lack of clarification will increase the chance of furthering your application.
